An experienced and practical leader, David has led Construction Contracts Limited (CCL) since 2002. What began as a single crew has grown under his leadership into a multi-team civils operation, complete with an in-house traffic management division and a specialist horizontal drilling crew — all with a strong track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects across the Wellington region.
CCL has delivered a wide range of Three Waters projects, including subcontracted civils work on high-profile jobs like the Arras Tunnel and Transmission Gully. The company has also replaced kilometres of aging water and wastewater pipes across the region, contributing to the resilience of Wellington’s infrastructure. David has built a strong team culture where safety, health, and wellbeing are embedded in daily operations. Under his leadership, CCL has earned multiple industry awards — including recognition for construction excellence, training and development, and the ACC Health and Safety Gold Award.
David has long been involved with Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ), having chaired the Wellington Wairarapa Branch and currently serving as CCNZ’s National President. These roles have broadened his industry perspective and sharpened his skills in communication, collaboration, and conflict resolution. Currently, his focus is on mentoring CCL’s new General Manager, supporting procurement and HR, and ensuring the business continues to grow as a trusted partner within the Greater Wellington infrastructure sector.
