IUCN Academy of Environmental Law

19th Annual Colloquium

The School of Law at the Queensland University of Technology is pleased to host the 19th IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Annual Colloquium in Brisbane, Australia from 11-15 July 2022.

For nearly 20 years, the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law’s Annual Colloquium has provided an important forum for legal scholars and experts from all over the world to come together to exchange knowledge, experiences and fellowship.

In 2022, the School of Law at QUT will host the first ever hybrid IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Annual Colloquium. While we are planning for events and activities to occur in Brisbane, for those unable to travel there will be the opportunity to participate in virtual activities.

For those able to attend in person, the Colloquium will be held at QUT’s Gardens Point campus, situated alongside the Brisbane River and City Botanic Gardens. The campus is a short walk to accommodation, dining and shopping precincts, and is easily accessible by public transport.

The theme for the 2022 Colloquium is ‘Recovery ● Resilience ● Regeneration: Re-imagining Environmental Law’. This theme invites participants to imagine new ecological possibilities, new modes of operation and action, and potentially new governance structures to respond more effectively to an increasingly uncertain future. We have drawn particularly on the concepts of recovery, resilience and regeneration as prompts for reimagining these new possibilities for environmental law. We anticipate that this theme will invite intellectually rich contributions from across the global membership of the Academy.

The IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Annual Colloquium 2022 is proudly supported by Cambridge University Press and Transnational Environmental Law. A collection of free articles from TEL can be found here.
